Post 13: Revise old blogs

  1.   Post 1: Intro to Angel's enchanting blog: Hi bloggers, My name is Angel Reid, I'm 19 years old. I was born November 24, 2002. My sign is a Sagittarius. It's my first year at Mga. My major is psychology and I'm a full online student. Some interesting things about me are for one I was born as a little person with achondroplasia. which is the most common dwarfism in the world, meaning we have shorter legs and arms with bigger foreheads. Traveling has always been a favorite thing of mine to do with family and friends. I have a husky/collie mix who will be two October 19 her name is Ava, she's very clingy (thanks to covid) but sweet and adventurous. I always say I was born with an older soul with the way I was raise. Thanks to my parents for putting me on to all good old school music. Some of my favorite artists are Jill Scott, Jhene Aiko, Erykah Badu, lucky Daye, I could go on & on forever. I'm excited for this year and getting to know my peers better let's have a successful year.
  2. Post 2: "So You've Got a Writing Assignment" :I've chosen the suggestion of calculating the best approach. Choosing the best approach opens more opportunity to writing. It helps me be more direct in writing and choose the correct wording for my audience. I always make sure to prewrite my thoughts as well as conduct research of the topic chosen
  3. Post 3: Rosenberg's strategies:  Rosenbergs lists multiple strategies for engaging academic text. A strategy that I use is introduction, also known as calculating the best approach. Rosenberg's cites, from (pg. 216) "The introduction serves some of the same functions as the abstract, but there is a lot more breathing room here. When I started reading academic texts, I’d breeze through the introduction to get to the 'meat' of the text. This was exactly the wrong thing to do." A strategy that I'm new to and will be using is abstract. Abstract is known as a specialized summary that answers specific questions. It is seen in database searches but can also be used in writing an essay. I will use it when the topic requires further explanation. Instead of being brief and general in my writing, depending on the topic, I will specify more details to the reader.
  4. For my professional blog, I chose the webpage "Psychology Today". Ever since I was twelve I've always found listening to others express themselves in ways others can't very interesting. Getting to know how others think and feel in ways you can't imagine. This blog impressed me so much, during my times I've learned so much about the mental health on how it takes a toll on living life. It gives critical thinking skills, tips on how to approach someone's health. Psychology is the scientific study of how the body and mind relate to each other. It is the summary of a person's characteristics, such as how they feel, think, and behave. Taking this course shows you how to deal with different things and situations involving others. It will also help you think critically about what you may encounter, and train in the use of scientific method. .Having the knowledge of psychology makes you much more familiar with different traits of people and why. Did this person’s childhood affect how they act now? What has caused their behavior? Not only does studying this course benefit how you are around others, it can help you gain self-confidence by learning more about yourself and your own personality. Understanding other people around you is a very necessary skill, especially in fields such as nursing, medicine, teaching, etc. The American Psychological Association (APA) is the largest professional organization that represents the psychologists in the United States. There are 54 divisions that represent a large variety of specialties in work. This includes educational settings, criminal justice, hospitals, the armed forces, and industry.
  5. Post 5: C.R.A.P. Test: After analyzing the article, one of the C.R.A.P. references I notice in my blog ''psychology today'' that reliability is the main factor being used in psychology today. With psychology something or someone is being relied on. Rather your seeking help from a therapist or relying on yourself to help your mental health.    For example, if a friend has been ringing you every day to tell you how miserable they are, won't try things that are likely to help their mood, and never asks about your day, you might need to figure out how you can set some limits and expectations without withdrawing your support. Doing this in the right way is likely to benefit both of you.

  1. I really enjoy your posts about your feelings towards psychology and can really relate. I still don't believe I could work in the field with patients, but the greater study of the mind is so fascinating! I -- like you mentioned in a post here -- started to really become interested in behavior in my pre-teens. My focus, I guess, just landed me with a huge interest in language + behavior instead, but even that is interesting to consider the reasonings for!
